Hand Stitching with Cynthia Gossage

We will explore the intersections of hand stitching of the Kuna and the Hmong people to create useful and beautiful items that are unique to our own observations and experiences. We’ll focus on fabric choices (color, value, and placement), and learn basic sewing skills, running stitch, applique stitch, and two distinct approaches to hand stitching textiles. Along the way, we’ll further develop how to articulate our observations from analyzing our own work and the work of the class.
