Event Description

May 1 - June 5, 2024 (6 weeks). In this class we will explore two popular stitching trends: sashiko and boro. Both began in Japan about 500 years ago in response to poverty and the class system as ways to salvage every last bit of fabric and thread. Today they represent two distinct aesthetics relying exclusively on the humble running stitch.
